HIGHLIGHTING MATCH UP

by Christina Marrale in Products

In today's REAL vs STEAL matchup, I'm comparing two popular highlighters from two very popular cosmetic brands:

YSL Touche Elcat: Retailing for $40, the luminizing pen claims to bring radiance to the skin, immediately erases any signs of fatigue, and brighten the complexion. The Benefit? It comes in 12 different colors, suitable for most skin tones. The product is easy to apply, lasts 6+ hours and is to be worn over or under makeup.

MAC's Prep & Prime: Retailing for $24 and boasting similar benefits: Luminizing and highlighting while increasing radiance in the skin. Use over makeup for highlights, touch-ups or under makeup to brighten and prime. Comes in 3 shades, Light Boost (my fave), Radiant Rose and Bright Forecast.

THE VERDICT: After trying both, there was truly no tell tale different between the two. They both lasted long, provided a luminizing, bright finish and were easy to apply with the brush tip. For $16 less, it's a great dupe from a great, reputable brand! The only true downfall to MAC was that is only comes in 3 different colors, where as YSL has them beat with 12. Overall, I'm really pleased with the match up and of course, i'll be sticking with the more economical choice out of the 2, allowing the $16 bucks i've saved to go right into my "Christina needs a new pair of Prada pumps" stash. (What? Every gal's got a vice...mine just happens to be Prada).
