It's been said a smokey eye can transform an ordinary female into an instant vixen. After spending the day being transformed by Celebrity Makeup Artist, Troy Jensen for Sindulge.com...I believe every bit of that phrase is accurate. Troy is the man behind many of Hollywood's most glamorous faces (Kim Kardashian, Rachel Bilson and Nicole Scherzinger to name a few) and it was an honor to have him work his magic on yours truly (check out that picture, I hardly recognize myself!).
So how can you achieve the same smokey eye look like the one Troy created for me? Try these essential tips:
- Always groom and fill in brows! A deep, dark smokey eye is nothing without groomed brows to match. The darker the color we use on our eyes, the more our brows tend to disappear. Try touching them up with Anastasia Beverly Hill's Beauty Express Brow Kit, a major fave of mine
- Apply a dark, gel based liner to lids prior to shadow application for the darkest of dark effect. Dusting on a dark shadow down alone won't look as rich and deep in color. Not to mention it'll last twice as long as the area will be primed and ready to go! My pick: Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
- Before applying shadow, dust a little bronzer onto the crease and lid of the eye, as well as your lower lash line. This will warm up the eye, making the transition between the dark shadow on lids and warmer bronzer on crease look more natural rather than one severe, black/white look. It also blends the darker color seamlessly into the crease. I love using MAC's Mineralized Skinfinish in Deep Dark
