November marks the beginning of a very special month (and what may possibly be my favorite new term, ever...) "Movember", a campagin bringing awareness to prostate and testicular cancer, all through the power of, well...the moustache!

So, How does Movember work exactly? "Mo Bros" commit to growing a moustache for the 30 days of Movember, and in doing so become walking and talking billboards for the cause...generating conversations, awareness and raise funds for men's health. There are many ways in which you can get involved with Movember, such as registering as a Mo Bro or Mo Sista and raising funds and awareness yourself or donating to someone you know who is participating. You can also attend various events such as Gala Partés, Mo Parties, Mo Runs or host your own event in honor of Movember. For more information and to donate to the cause, visit here. In 2011, over 854,000 participated, raising $126.3 million USD!

As many readers know, my father had battled with and survived prostate cancer this year. He was diagnosed in December, had his treatment in the spring and was cancer free all within 1 year. His story is inspiring and he is standing here today all because he had stayed on top of his regular doctors visits and caught it early enough to treat.

In honor of Movember (and since I can't grow a stache....) I wanted to take the time to link an informative Q & A about Prostate Cancer. Though most of my readers are female, let this article inspire you to talk to the men in your lives about prostate & testicular cancer, making sure they're staying on top of getting their PSA's checked each year and helping spread awareness. Cancer is an awful disease that can take the lives of ones we love the most, let's stay on top of keeping one another informed and help aide to the prevention!
