Below you'll find the ingredients for all of the DIY's featured on the Better show! Feel free to mix and play around with different ingredients and measurements, as all of the recipes can be adjusted to your own preference. For instance, for a more "dry" scrub, cut the measurement of coconut oil in half or select a different fragrance for your bath bombs, etc. Enjoy and happy holidays!
WHIPPED CITRUS SCRUB
- Combine ½ cup of white granulated sugar
- ½ cup of coconut oil, zest of 1 grapefruit
- 1 tablespoon of grapefruit juice
- 20 drops of citrus oil
- ¼ teaspoon of beet juice
Instructions: Mix coconut oil and sugar together on low speed until a thick paste is formed. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until combined. Place into a glass jar, seal and you’re all set.
- 1 ½ cup of baking soda
- 1/2 cup of citric acid powder
- 4 tablespoons of corn starch
- 3 tablespoons of sweet almond oil
- an essential oil of choice, food coloring (optional)
- tea leaves/dried flowers (optional)
- Small spray bottle filled with water
Instructions: Mix all dry ingredients together, then add the almond oil, essential oil and food coloring. Slowly spray water and mix thoroughly until mixture can be molded. Shape, place decorative accent and allow to dry on non-stick paper for up to 48 hours.
HOMEMADE LIP & CHEEK TINTS
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax
- 4 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons of petroleum jelly
- Small slice of lipstick
Instructions: Combine beeswax, coconut oil and jelly into microwave safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds (or until melted). While the mixture is still warm, mix in your slice of lipstick. Pour into desired container and let set in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
COCONUT LOTION BARS
- 1 part beeswax
- 1 part shea butter
- 1 part coconut oil
- 1 green tea bag
- essential oil (optional)
Instructions: Melt all three ingredients over a double boiler. Add in green tea packet and essential oil and while still warm, pour mixture into mold of choice (muffin pans work) and allow to set in refrigerator for 24 hours.
