Nothing beats a great eyeshadow palette...they're compact, a great value and typically contain everything you need to pull off lots of different style looks. Urban Decay is known as one of the front runners when it comes to mastering the perfect palettes, with Naked 1, 2 and the popular Vice palette all living proof, and another popular product on the horizon. If you haven't already, get familiar with Urban Decay's Naked Basics palette (retailing for $27) which features 6 gorgeous basic, matte shadows.

The versatility in this palette is brilliant. Though it may not look as visually appealing as most of Urban Decay's other palettes and shadows, matte's are an essential part of building a look and creating balance between several formulas of eye shadow. I always add a matte shadow to my brow bone and crease with any look i'm creating. Why you ask? Layering shimmer upon shimmer tends to make the look "muddy" and the more shimmer, the more eyes can look aged as the product grabs onto any wrinkling in the crease/lid area.

Another benefit of matte shadow? It's more neutral and daytime appropriate, for those gals who don't like to wear too much, or like to keep it on the conservative side and perfect for those with mature skin.

Have you tried the new Naked Basics? I'm on my way out the door to purchase mine...Happy Monday!
