Nothing beats a classic red lip, especially around the colder months. When i'm feeling a bit uninspired with my makeup or really want to turn up the volume, it's the perfect, go to look. Now that it's officially November and weeks away from Thanksgiving, there's no better time to break out the red and start getting in the holiday spirit.
For mastering the perfect red lip, try these simple application tricks:
- LINE: Lip liner is essential. Not only does it help with feathering and the product bleeding through, it adds dimension. Big, loud, lip colors like red tend to look a little overwhelming without some added shading, I used MAC's lip pencil in "Burgundy" here.
- APPLY: Apply the lipstick directly to center of lips to intensify the color and keep adding layers of dimension. Press lips together to blend and add more as needed. If you want a less bold look, simply dot the product on, using a light blotting motion and then blend. This will make the color look more like a lip stain rather than one bold color.
- CLEAN: Take a clean concealer (or any stiff, small bristled brush) brush and dip into your favorite concealer. Apply a bit, lightly, onto edges of lips and cupids bow. Blend out with another clean brush (or q-tip). This helps clean any messy areas of the lip application, in addition to highlighting the area to really make the color pop.
- VOILA: You are good to go! A chic, classic red lip that's perfect for any occasion!
