"Baking" your way to better beauty

by Christina

I am always in search of great "At Home" beauty remedies....it's astounding what hot new beauty trick one can discover when going through their fridge/pantry. Just the other night, a friend and I got into a discussion about this and the topic of baking soda came up. Sure, baking soda does wonders with it's multi use abilities from baking to around the home but how can it benefit us beauty wise? Check this out:

Exfoliant: Mix a bit of water into a handful of baking soda and this pasty mixture becomes perfect for sloughing off those dead skin cells and flakes. I found the texture to be similar to Dermalogica's popular " Daily Microfoliant"

Whiten Teeth: You can achieve a brighter smile and pearly whites by brushing your teeth with baking soda. It even helps to rid bad breath and mouth sores.

Enhance your Mani/Pedi: Soak your hands and feet in a mixture of baking soda and water for about 15-20 minutes to soften cuticles and leaving those areas silky smooth

Smooth Body: Soak your entire body in a water/baking soda mixture to sooth and soften rough, dull looking skin. Be sure to rinse afterwards.

Hair: To wash off residue and buildup most styling creams and conditioners can leave behind, add a 1/2 teaspoon to your shampoo and wash your hair. Baking soda can even act as a dry shampoo for those "in between" wash days.

You can find baking soda in any supermarket or grocery store. Be sure for your own health that it is Aluminum free and 100% sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
